New York Fashion Week Recap Part 1

Every September New York City is taken over by fashion. The Spring/ Summer collections mark the beginning of the fashion year. New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is the time where models strut the runway and bloggers dress to the nines. Designers finally show what they have working on for months! The new designs are amazing and the street style is inspirational. As chaotic as NYFW may be, it reminds me why I love fashion so much!

This was my first year attending NYFW as a blogger, so it was pretty special. Previous years, I volunteered (during college), and attended only a couple shows as a guest.

A few weeks in advance, I started prepping for the shows. Pulling looks to wear together, putting my calendar together with addresses and times, and making sure all my RSVPs were confirmed. Fashion week may seem quite glamorous, but it is also a lot of work!

First stop...

Maria's Technicolor SS17 Presentation at the Dream Downtown Hotel

Maria's Technicolor handbag presentation was stunning! I am a huge fan of color, so seeing all this vibrant intricate designs on the leather handbags really got me excited for Spring 2017!

Each design on the bags were very different, and some combined multiple designs. I also loved the tassels as an accent!

The bags came in many shapes. Everything from tote bags to boxy cross body bags (my favorite!).

I ended the first night at the What Goes around Comes Around x We Wore What event in Soho.

The store the event took place in What Goes Around Comes Around was super cool!! I was blown away by their selection of vintage designer pieces. My favorite was their wall of Hermes Birkin bags. If you know me personally, you know that it is my dream to own one of these gems one day.

Their collection of Chanel bags and jewelry was amazeballs! Every piece was so unique and glamorous!

The Fashion Palette runway show consisted of 6 Australian designers- Con Illio, Cristahlea, Homebodii, Milanja, Stefanie Chehade, and Sui Generis.

Con Illio was absolutely stunning! The gowns were dead, drop, gorgeous. Every piece was so detailed- from tulle ruffles to shiny pearls.

Cristahlea was stunning as well! The dresses were made from beautiful metallic brocades and then embellished with shiny crystals. The reflection from the crystals on the runway was memorizing!

Sui Generis was delicate and feminine. The color palette was soft with lavenders, greys, blush, and cool whites. I love the flow and movement the collection had. My favorite was the off-the-shoulder blouse with the puffy sleeves. Im all about the sleeve details right now!

Next Day.....

Lulus Event:

To start weekend off with a bang, Lulus hosted an amazing blogger event! I rushed out of my day job, applying my lipstick and putting on my jewelry for a quick outfit update along my way there (mind you it was a humid sticky 80 degrees, I was dying by the time I got there). But the minute I walked in through those glass doors, I was welcomed by a nice cool breeze from the blasting AC. The venue was amazing and the decor was super cute! Everything was white and modern with a cool purple neon light. The music was going thanks to the great DJ. I first stopped at theBalm beauty station and got a quick touch up on my lips. Their new matte lipstick (Meet Matt(e) Hughes in color Dedicated is my new favorite lip color- no joke! It's the best feeling matte lipstick I've tried!

Next I stopped by their other stations with NYX Cosmetics and Sigma. They are some of my favorite beauty brands and their new products I tried are great! One of my favorite new beauty brands I discovered at this event was Winky Lux. For instance, their new powder is made out of diamonds! Yup, you read that right...DIAMONDS! I also loved Laqa&Co. Fat Lip Pencil. I got the color Pinkman- super vibrant and perfect for a girl who loves pink. I loved it so much I wore it the very next day!

Lulus was also sweet enough to let us bloggers pick out a piece of clothing of our choice. I picked up a super cool blush pink cocktail dress with a structure popover! I can't wait to show you guys so stay tuned! Thank you so much for having me at this event! I had a BLAST!!

NYFW SS17 Day 3....

Dan Liu SS17 Runway Show:

Rushing to make it to the show on time on Saturday morning, Dan Liu was a great way to start the day!

Dan Liu is a Canadian fashion designer who draws inspiration from his Japanese and Chinese heritage. This Asian influence was shown through the details of the garments he displayed for his SS17 show. I loved the delicate gold embroideries and fun silhouettes. Liu also incorporated fun colorful prints which were my favorites from the show.

Shop Style Social House Event

The Shop Style Social House event was one of the best memories of NYFW!! It took place at The Glasshouses in Chelsea. The view from The Glasshouses was to die for! The entire floor had wall to wall glass walls and you could see all of lower manhattan, the Hudson River, and even Jersey.

The Shop Style event had clothing from some of their best brands and stores like Jenny Packham to Neiman Marcus. Their selection was incredible and let us bloggers wear some of these amazing pieces for NYFW.

A few floors below, Shop Style had set up a ton of fun sections. I took some fun gifs at the photo booth with my other blogger babes, learned about Emoticon, got a Gigi NY leather bag monogrammed, checked out the new Papyrus cards, and rested my feet on the lovely white couches.

Layana Aguilar SS17 Presentation

I love discovering new and upcoming fashion designers during NYFW. I think that new designers have a fresh new aspect and create some of the most unique creations. Layana Aguilar was just that! I loved her clean yet color palette- crisp whites, rich teals, to a gorgeous graphic print. I also loved how she expressed her voice with words on her designs. They read 'Girl Boss' and 'Only love will set us free'.

Sally Skoufis Austrailian Jewelry Presentation

The best thing about NYFW is that, it is not limited to just clothing. Jewelry is just as important and really accentuate dress. Sally Skoufis debuted her new collection 'Warrior Soul Anthology' this NYFW and I was incredibly happy that I was introduced to this collection. Every piece, from rings to cuffs to head pieces, were incredibly beautiful!!! The presentation was mysterious, sexy, and very luxurious. The models were draped in the jewelry pieces. There was a diamond thigh ring- never saw one of these till that day but I thought it was awesome!.

Skoufis is very talented and I can't wait to see her next collection!

xoxo!
