Mixing Plaids
As I’ve mentioned earlier this Fall, plaid is a huge trend. Today, I’m going to show you how to play with plaid. Let’s take this super versatile pattern and mix it with others to create a fashion forward look! Taking this trend to the next level is all about mixing it with other plaids. It’s that simple! They don’t even need to match. Actually, the more they don’t match, the better.
One way to mix plaid are by mixing sizes. For an example, in this look I am mixing a big block plaid with a mini tight plaid pattern. The two contrasting sizes mix really well together and compliment each other. Both plaids have the same warm fall hues which help make the look feel cozy. I also recommend pulling colors from the plaid into your accessories. These dark steel mules are a great accent piece for any fall look. Think browns, forest greens, orange spice, and navy!
Another way to mix plaid patterns are by pulling colors/ matching colors from each other. The blazer is the focal plaid piece and it mixes a ton of colors together like pink, yellow, green, black, and white. However, the base colors are black and white and those are the best colors to pull to mix in another plaid. Black and white also mix well with everything so having a plaid piece in those colors is always a good idea.
