Best Dressed Wedding Guest

Wedding season is upon us. Summer and Autumn are filled with weddings! I constantly hear women talk about how many weddings they have to attend this year and how they have no idea what to wear. I get it ladies, you wanna look good but you also don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on something you might never wear again. Well I’ve got you covered! I’m sharing all my favorite stores I take a look at when having to find the perfect social occasion dress, at every price point. You won’t believe what you can find on a tight budget. You all know that I’m all about making a dollar stretch.

$: UNDER $100

If you’re on a budget, don’t worry because there are so many great dresses available at a low price that look expensive. Take into consideration that the quality won’t be designer but surprisingly the construction is still good. Finding the perfect dress has nothing to do with the price, all that matters is that you look and feel great in it.

Some of my favorite stores to shop for a good dress and a low price point are Forever 21, Zara, Lulus, Mango, Boohoo, Topshop, ASOS, Nasty Gal, Nordstrom, and H&M.

These stores carry some of the trendiest pieces plus they carry a wide range in styles/ silhouettes so you’re bound to find something. There are also a variety of sizing options from petite to plus. My tip is to stay away from light colors because they might be sheer (you don’t want to be that person with her under garments showing through at the wedding). Also, buy a few pieces and try them on at home with your shoes and accessories. This way you can do the sit down and bend over test. Then return the options you don’t go with.

$$: $101-300

At the next price tier, there will be a bit more variety

Some of the best investment pieces can be in this price tier. A dress at this price can be worn for multiple events, work, and throughout the years. So don’t feel so bad when you find a piece you love. Give yourself a treat girl! This is also the price point where you can buy a floor length gown for a great price. There is something about a long gown that gives off a classy vibe. If you are going to a black-tie wedding, opt for a long gown. If you are not a fan of long dresses, try a midi or high-low!

If you’re not looking to spend a whole lot, but want to wear a designer piece, Rent the Runway is a great option! You can borrow a dress for a smaller fee, look great at the wedding, and return it. It takes very little work and is so convenient.

Some of my other favorite stores to shop for a good dress and a mid range price point are Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor, BHLDN, Revolve, and Saks.

JUMPSUITS

Jumpsuits are an easy throw on and you’re out the door outfit. They are also a comfy option to wear to weddings. You can hit the dance floor without worrying about flashing anyone. Plus, a jumpsuit will really make you stand out since it's not the most popular choice. A jumpsuit is great for a casual wedding or a black-tie affair.

This Aidan jumpsuit is one of my favorite summer items! I love the drama of the cape, the vibrant coral color, wide leg pant, and cut out! It has so many interesting elements and it feels really good on.

With jumpsuits, there are a few things to look out for to find something that might fit. Here are my tips:

1. Take a look at the fabric content. If it has a little stretch, it will feel ten times more comfortable and the fit may be easier. I personally prefer at least 3- 5% elastane/ spandex.

2. Wide legs give a little extra wiggle room to find a better fit. Plus the wide leg pant will give you movement when walking. They can also make you look slimmer by balancing out the hips.

3. If you are on the petite side, avoid pant hems that end with interest. For example: avoid fringe, pattern change, 3D elements, and beading at the pant hem. You will most likely end up removing it.

I’ve linked a few great options below.

$$$: $301- $999

If you are really looking to splurge, I’ve got you covered in that department as well! Some of my favorite designers design specifically for weddings and those dresses will blow your mind! Usually the construction is much better- there is a reason for the high price point. The price tier is also the best place to find a sparkly hand beaded dress to make you feel like a queen.

Sky is the limit here. If you’re looking to splurge, then go for it girl!

Designers/ brands to look out for are Machesa, Alice & Olivia, Zimmerman, Jonathan Simkhai, and Self-Portrait.
