Certain fashion pieces go out of style but one staple piece that will be in trend for decades to come is a white button-up shirt. There is nothing better than a crisp clean white dress shirt. However, I feel like many of us are stuck with the idea that a white button-up should only be worn to work. I am here to show you eight modern ways to style a white button-up shirt. LEATHER BLAZER & LEATHER ACCESSORIES

The best way to spice up a closet staple look is to combine it with the season's hottest ticket item. This Fall/Winter, it has to be a leather blazer. It looks super chic no matter what you combine it with. Plus, black and white outfits look great on anyone at any time! Take a white shirt dress, throw on a leather blazer, and throw on your favorite accessories. 

ALL LAYERED UP

I have said it before, but Fall is my favorite fashion season! Why? Because we can layer up! There are so many fascinating ways to layer pieces to elevate a look. My current favorite is to wear a tank top on top of a white button-up shirt. Try to combine a cropped tank top to add additional interest by playing with lengths. The cropped aspect will also help accentuate the waist. To add more layers, throw on your favorite menswear blazer. Major styling tip: take a scarf and tie it in the back through the belt loops. It is a fun way to add personality to a basic blazer.

SHOULDER PADS & MONOCHROME

This year, one of my fashion obsessions have been shoulder pads! Yup, I am okay with the 80s coming back! I also think they look so great with a basic white button-up. A fun shoulder-padded sweater vest is a great piece to put on top of a shirt dress. To accentuate the waist, throw on a belt and finish the look off with a fedora hat.

LEATHER TANK OVER WHITE SHIRT

The Fall and Winter seasons call for a little leather. On top of your button-up dress, put on a leather bustier or tank top. This will automatically add a bit of sass to any ol’ button up. You can even add a leather jacket to warm up in. To continue the ‘grunge’ look, I paired this look with a pair of white combat boots. However, this would also look great with OTK boots or even sneakers. 

CROP TURTLENECK

Sometimes, the unexpected pairings are the best. An appealing way to make an outfit interesting is to exaggerate different lengths. This cropped turtleneck paired with a long tunic style button-up shirt work well together because they are contrasting. Again, layers add another aspect to this look. Try this with a cropped turtleneck you have. My favorite part of this shirt is that it has pockets! Perfect place to store your phone!

LEATHER TRENCH COAT WITH CROP TOP TANK

Keep it classy in black and white but add in leather and textured pieces. Layering a tank over a long shirt will help define the waist. A great way to add interest to an outfit is through different textures. The smooth leather is a fun way to juxtapose the crisp white button-up.

OVERSIZED SWEATER VEST & BLACK TIGHTS

If you are more comfortable in loose oversized clothing, this look is for you! Grab a loose-fitting button-up dress and pair it with an oversized sweater vest. Not only is this look very comfortable and work-from-home friendly, but it is also very "on trend". You will see every it-girl on the gram with a version of this look. Finish the look off with a pair of tights and combat boots.

TWEED BLAZER OVER SHIRT DRESS

If you relate more towards Charlotte over Samantha, this look is for you! Take a basic long shirt dress and put a tweed blazer on top. It automatically gives off lady-like vibes and is perfect for the office. But, make it your style by adding a compelling belt and an amazing pair of boots.
